Eastern C.A.A., Inc.
Early Head Start, Head Start, and PreK for Eastern New Mexico

Eastern Plains Head Start (EPHS) serves 6 communities throughout Eastern New Mexico. Its administrative offices are located in Tucumcari.

Programs

EPHS offers Early Head Start (EHS) services to a total of 102 children in Clovis, Portales, and Tucumcari. EHS serves babies and toddlers from ages six weeks to three years. It also works with expectant mothers. EPHS offers Head Start in six communities, serving a total of 329 three- and four-year-old children. PreK serves 10 children in Santa Rosa. In addition to meeting the needs of children, all three programs help the families as well.

Criteria
As mandated by the Federal Government, Head Start and Early Head Start primarily serve low-income families. Low-income is defined as those who are at or below the current year’s poverty guidelines. Nevertheless, up to 10% of enrollees can be from families who are over-guidelines. Children with documented disabilities are given special consideration. Enrollment is based on the needs of the child and the family. Several factors are taken into consideration.
Income guidelines do not apply to PreK enrollment which is available to all four-year-old children.
